Species
Mallards, pintails, wood ducks, and the rest.
Every species lays out differently. The speculum color, the curl feathers, and the body feathers all change the look of the finished board. Here's how a few of them come together.
Mallard
The blue speculum with white bars is the centerpiece. Drakes add the green head and black curl feathers. Hens make a softer, warmer board, and an off-colored hen can turn out one of a kind.
Pintail
Long, clean lines and a bronze-green speculum. The gray body feathers make one of the most elegant backgrounds of any duck.
Wood duck
The most colorful duck in the marsh, with iridescent wing feathers and a patterned body that make a bold feather mount. Message me before you ship one so we can plan the layout.
Teal, wigeon, gadwall
Smaller and mid-sized ducks work great too. A secondaries mount suits a teal, and the flying layout shows off a wigeon or gadwall.
Banded and milestone birds
A first duck, a band, or a bird of a lifetime deserves better than a freezer. Tell me the story and we'll build around it.
Pairs and doubles
A hen and drake from the same hunt can share one frame. That's how the white-winged mallard double mount on the home page came together. Custom builds are quoted per project.
