Feather & Frame Taxidermy

Mallard feather mounts

Mallard feather art, framed from your own bird.

The blue speculum with its white bars. The green head. The black curl feathers off the tail. A mallard has everything a feather board needs, laid by hand into a hardwood frame I build myself.

Mallard

Mallard Flying Mount

Both wings spread open and laid symmetrical around the center of the bird, the way a greenhead looks cupped over the decoys. Add the head feathers for the green, or the body background for the full bird.

Hens and pairs

Not just greenheads.

A hen mallard makes a softer, warmer board, and an off-colored hen can turn out one of a kind. A hen and drake from the same hunt can share one frame as a custom build, quoted per project.

"Amazing work. Symmetry and attention to detail was next level on the board that he did for me."

Fits in any room

A greenhead your wife will hang in the hallway.

A full-body mallard usually ends up in the garage. A feather board hangs flat like a piece of art, so it works in a kitchen, a hallway, an office, or a nursery.

Sending your mallard

Can you keep the meat?

If your board skips the body background, you can breast the mallard out and keep the meat. For the body background, I need the whole bird, frozen and uncut, because the background is built from its own body feathers.

Freeze it fast

Wipe off any blood with cold water, let it cool, put a paper towel in the beak, double bag it, and freeze it solid.

Ship from anywhere

Styrofoam cooler inside a box, UPS or FedEx overnight on a Monday or Tuesday. Put a signed bird tag in the box.

Book first

Message me before you ship so we can settle the layout. A $200 deposit holds your build slot. Whole ducks get a $50 cleaning fee.
