Pintail feather mounts
A drake pintail is one of the cleanest birds you can put on a wall. Long lines, a bronze-green speculum, and fine gray body feathers, all laid by hand into a hardwood frame I build myself.

Both wings spread open and laid symmetrical around the center of the bird. On a pintail, the gray body background is what makes the board, so most pintail owners go with it.

A pintail is often the bird a hunter waits years for. A feather board keeps it on the wall in the main part of the house, not in the garage, and it reads like a piece of art to anyone who walks by.

If your board skips the body background, you can breast the pintail out and keep the meat. For the body background, I need the whole bird, frozen and uncut, because the background is built from its own body feathers.
Wipe off any blood with cold water, let it cool, put a paper towel in the beak, double bag it, and freeze it solid.
Styrofoam cooler inside a box, UPS or FedEx overnight on a Monday or Tuesday. Put a signed bird tag in the box.
